What is FlightChat?

FlightChat is a business chat app developed for the aviation industry, in order to allow efficient online communication between all parties that are involved in operating a flight, including crew, gate agents, maintenance and other staff in the operations control center monitoring a specific flight.

The app has been developed by Jeppesen Systems AB, a Swedish company with its office in Gothenburg, Odinsgatan 9, 411 03, Sweden (hereinafter “Jeppesen”).

What personal data does FlightChat collect and why?

Jeppesen processes the personal data in FlightChat to deliver the services defined in the agreement with the airline customer that gave you access to the app. As a result, the customer is the controller for this data collection and Jeppesen is a processor. This means that you should receive more accurate information on the data processing from the controller, and the information below is a general outline designed to give you a basic understanding of how your personal data might be processed through FlightChat. The app can be personalized for each customer, therefore the information below may not fully reflect the processing in your case.

The personal data processed by FlightChat can include:

  • Login details: username, password.
  • Your personal details: name, title, airline or other employer, flights you are associated with and role, phone number, email address, personal identifier, profile photo (if set);
  • Communications: The content of your chats and their timestamps, time and duration of calls, the identity of the other people you chat with or call, chatroom name;
  • Support/Feedback data Information related to troubleshooting tickets or feedback submission to Jeppesen.
  • Diagnostic and service data Diagnostic data related to service usage. This personal data allows Jeppesen to deliver the service (troubleshoot, secure, and update the product and monitor performance).
  • Device identifier and IP address.

Our customers are controllers for the data provided to Jeppesen, as set forth in the underlying contract, and they determine legal bases of processing.

What third parties have access to personal data?

Jeppesen won't disclose personal data except:

  1. as the customer directs;
  2. as described in the customer contract (such as the use of authorized subcontractors to provide certain components of services);
  3. as required by law.

Where is the data stored?

Personal data is stored in the Jeppesen AWS cloud or as otherwise instructed by the customer.

How long does FlightChat retain personal data?

FlightChat retains your data for the time specified by the customer.

If a customer terminates service with Jeppesen, corresponding personal data will typically be deleted from the server within 30 days of service termination.

Your Privacy Rights

The law applicable to the customer may provide for certain rights you have in relation to your personal data. This should be made known to you by the customer, and your requests in relation to those rights should be directed to such customer.
